She is also first Arab to reach summit of Mount Kangchenjunga
Less than 24 hours after reaching Mount Everest, Qatari mountaineer Sheikh Asma bint Thani al-Thani became the first Qatari to climb Lhotse, the world's fourth highest mountain at 8,516 meters, which lies between Tibet and Khumbu in Nepal.
On May 27, Sheikh Asma Bint Thani Al Thani became the first Qatari to reach Mount Everest, a historic feat, Qatari media reported.
The Qatari flag is hoisted at the top of the highest mountain in the world at an altitude of 8849 meters.
"Everest is a dream I have been pursuing for a long time," Sheikh Asma wrote in an Instagram post.
In May last year, Sheikh Asma also attempted to climb Mount Everest, but had to cancel the expedition due to extreme weather conditions that made climbing the mountain dangerous.
Sheikh Asma recently became the first Arab to reach the peak of Kanchenjunga, the world's third highest peak, which lies between Nepal and India at 8,586 meters above sea level. In January, he became the first cat to ski to the North and South Poles
